Some instrument manufacturers give free instruments to prominent
players as a form of sponsorship.
If you play on one of these manufacturers' instruments and are widely
known to be a duff player, it is possible that the manufacturer will
supply you with a free
instrument made by somebody else
as a form of reverse
sponsorship.
